Kevin Wu beats field of 30! - 1/06/12

The LLWSOP began it's ninth season with the annual Final 8 game, featuring the top eight players from the previous year. After holding the points lead for most of the season, Brian Crews ended up in head-to-head action with Jim Moorman. Despite his chip lead, Jim wasn't able finish off the game and Brian took down the Final Eight championship.

With a fresh points board for the new year, 30 players sat down for the first tournament of the season and it looks like it might be a year of bad beats. Stacey Adam took the worst of it with pocket kings when she called Unlce John's all-in bet to see that she faced pocket nines. A nine came right in the window, but when the rest of the flop was spread, it also included a king for set over set! With only a single out, John hit the miracle when the fourth nine arrived on the turn!

Despite all of the bad beats, Kevin Wu was not only able to make it to the final table, but he also found himself in the cash when Teymour Ansari went out on the bubble. Final play took place between Kevin and Bonnie Edens and Kevin managed to dodge Bonnie's draw to win the January game.
