Jay Wiley Takes Victory in Short Field! - 10/05/13

The October tournament was smaller than usual, so players started out the game with an extra $1,000 in chips. Jay Wiley added many of those extra chips to his stack as he took an early lead at table one. That lead put him in a strong position once the final table was seated, but Jim South and Irish Steve also had strong momentum by the final three. Irish had knocked five off of the final table, giving him a good chip position, and Jim South had accumulated a stack that was almost equal to Jay's holdings.

Nobody was able to deal a final blow in three way action until Jim got it all-in with a small ace that was dominated by Jay's big ace. With South eliminated, Jay's big chip lead was too much for Irish and both players pushed with small flopped pairs a few hands into head-to-head play. Irish hit a pair of threes, but was in bad shape against Jay's fours and that handed him the victory for October.

There are only two more games in the season, so the final eight champion seats are still up for grabs!
